I am Pat Mathews and several years ago I discovered I was a Life Coach.

That probably seems like an unusual way to describe myself, let me explain.  For over 25 years I have had various “helping” roles.  I have had one foot in the mental health profession and one foot in education for all my professional career.  As I approached “retirement” from my position as a community college professor, I began to explore my options for the future. I no longer wanted to be tied down to the routine of semester after semester. However, I really enjoyed the personal interaction and making a difference in the lives of my students.  I wanted to continue with the fun pieces of my career and let go of what no longer appealed to me.  I wanted to support individuals as they pursued their dreams and achieved new found joy. I discovered that the things I liked to do had a “new” name…
coaching.

I am married to my soul mate (second time’s the charm) and we are actively creating the next chapter in our life together.  We love to garden and cook and live by the Slow Foods philosophy of preparing fresh, locally grown foods. Most of the vegetables we serve come from our own garden. We are committed to maintaining a healthy diet and teaching others the value of "cooking from scratch".

Other passions of ours are music…listening and performing…travel and family. We are both musicians, Doug is far more talented than I, and we enjoy a wide variety of music. From the time I was very small, whenever someone mentioned going somewhere, my bag was always packed and I was ready to go. Having grandchildren located on both the East and West coasts gives me plenty of opportunities to travel. We keep our passports up to date, too.

I was initially trained at the Institute of Life Coach Training and will be a Certified Life Coach by August 2008.  I am also a Certified Facilitator for 2 Young 2 Retire and a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Qualified Practitioner. I am committed to my own continued personal and professional growth and will support the same in you.
